Are you using the same passwords everywhere? Are you using any of the default passwords (admin,password,user,etc)? Did you know that hackers are more and more targeting small businesses?


As a web developer, I am seen more instances of hacking into small business websites. One of the easiest ways hackers gain access to your site is by easily guessing your passwords.


Criteria for strong passwords:

  • Use 14 characters or more
  • Use a variety of characters
  • Include both upper and lower case letters
  • Include numbers
  • Use special characters ($%!@#) where possible



How to create a strong password that is easy to remember:

  • Start with a short sentence or 3 or 4 words
  • Turn words into numbers or symbols

Other Tips:

Create several passwords for your use.  Use different passwords for personal and business or access to your financial information.
